Has anyone heard from Anne Kline, Melinda Veatch, Gene Beckwith '80, Brad Doenges, Stan Dodson, Nancy Foote, Lee Rowe, Herbert Collins, and the list goes on...? It's great seeing all these posts from all these different people but it would be great to see a lot more!

Bill,
Melinda Veatch and Lee Rowe (not sure about the others, I think Brad was there for one event too) were at the 20th and they all looked good. I think Lee comes here from time to time but just lurks!tonofbricks Or that's what someone said. He looked 5" shorter as did Steve $6 Million Austin for some reason!Wink Big Grin

I think Brad is still part owner of what used to be Doenges Brothers Ford. Not sure what became of Herbert, I think he still lives in Tulsa though...

Do you remember Reggie Howell, used to be the QB at Monroe and went to McLain? He came to BTW's 20-year reunion, looked the same, still lives in Tulsa. I used to see him at NEO when I was going to school up there, he played DB, i.e. cornerback, when NEO won the nat'l title.

No wonder you`re all mixed up. You got a white man`s 1st name, a Spanish man`s 2nd name and a black man`s 3rd name.

Reggie was kind of hard to forget. I got to play football at Monroe for a couple of games, then my folks were being inconvenienced with the amount of time it required. Your gonna make me find a monroe yearbook. Dan sent word about Melinda Veatch living in Texas and being a minister. That's cool, we were pretty good friends, that sounds a little lame, we were great friends. I talked to Randy Rutledge today, I think Randy, Gary Leak and myself are going to try and hookup for lunch this week. It ought to be fun.
I became friends with Lee Rowe and a bunch of other people when I went to Carver.

See Bill, I don't remember you going to Carver, I thought we went to school all the way, straight through.Confused When did you transfer to Carver?

I was an idiot, I should have went to BTW my 9th grade year, that way I could have played baseball for four years, but I was 9th grade rep at Monroe which meant I got out of classes on ocassion but it was a joke more than anything. Forgive me former Monroe classmates, I sucked at it. missingtooth But I did get to meet some people from various other schools inc. the one time we hung out at Carver. All the dudes over there were smart, they all took home ec b/c all the girls were in there! biglaugh

bobbyd,
My parents got divorced between my 7th and 8th grade years. Mom moved way out south and dad stayed in Turley. They thought I should go to Carver so that's how it worked out.
I stayed at Carver for 9th grade, Bodien got jumped one evening during the last week of 8th grade by 4 guys who thought we were goning to BTW for 9th, so we decided to stay one more year and settle a debt. Who was the math teacher at Monroe that was hung up on Spam? (Marlow?)
Jon,
Stan Dodson went to Carver back then, I used to ride the bus with him for several years. I seem to recall a few pranks that ocurred to several people (Principal and Teachers)at Carver, of which we were probably the source of their discomfort. Ask him about the fire extinguisher and QT Williams in the science room.

I just found the website after it was apparently down for a while. I don't know how many of you may remember me. I was sort of quiet, skinny, and not always extremely self-confident while at BTW. Also, I had little interest in school and spent a good bit of time working or sneaking out to play pool at Fat Randy's near the Tulsa World where I worked and at Al's place over by the Circle Theater. I lived on 68th street North in Turley down the street from Bill Strong until he moved. I still remember visiting your Mom's place with the elevator in it after your folks divorced. I have been in touch with Bobby Dozier once or twice and even met with Gary Leak in Tulsa back about nine years ago or so. I'd love to hear from anyone from BTW who remembers me. Great web site!

Hey Strong and Chuck, I remember you both well from back in the old days, and even ole Glen B. I'm still here in Tulsa and see some of the Turley people every now and then. David Grey and Robin Gillian ended up married, and so did David Wilson and Durnda Hacker. Becky Brown is up east in Philli, and Gilda is in Owasso. I sure would like to hear from Marcy Janitz, if anyone knows her where abouts....

Darren,

How are you? Oddly, I thought of you just a couple of months ago before I found this website. Still in Oklahoma, eh? I moved to Texas in 1984 and now live in Buffalo, Texas. Remember how much I hated school? Strange how things turn out - I am the superintendent of the school district here. How have you been and what are you doing? Fill me in please.

Hey Darren and Chuck,
Late response but great to see messages. This forum hasn't been active for a while but maybe this will generate some more responses. Darren I'm like you, never left T-town area but have have traveled all over the U.S. Chuck, my old compadre , how are you? Man it has been a long time. It would really be great to just sit down and relive all the old times we had when we were young. Dad still lives in the same old place on 68th. gary knows how to get hold of me, give me a call sometime. (I actually have been through Buffalo quite a few times, saw a fairly tough fight in a convenience store parking lot there one night.) It would be great to see you guys at the reunion this year.

Last I heard, Gene Beckwith was living in Taos N.M. and was working in an art gallery there. Pretty wild to see fellow Monroe JH alums. What a place that turned out to be. My son is turning 11 this Sept. and he'll go there "over my dead body!" Sorry, but it's gone to hell! I guess we were the last bunch to "make it" out of there.

Hey, cool! Smile If Gene Beckwith is living in Taos and working in an art gallery, he might know my older sister, Joan Abbott Phillips. She has lived in Taos for over 15 years, and is an archivist for the Taos Historic Museums and also does alot with the Taos Society of Artists. She is in and out of all the museums and alot of the galleries.. lives a block from the town square where most of the galleries are. Taos is a pretty small town, so who knows? Smile

Ok, I am in this wayyy late in the game, but I can absolutely tell you that Gene (who I was married to for many years and is still my friend) is in Taos with his gorgeous wife and two boys. He is just as cool and kind as you remember if not more so now. That is 100% accurate as of last week (June 2007).
If you make it to Taos, the whole town knows Gene. Just ask.

Glad to hear that Gene B. is still in Taos. I saw him at the gallery there while I was performing with Babatunde Olatunji. What a shock it was to stop in a gallery out of the blue and to see him there, happy as a clam!
If anyone cares, I am now coordinator of the Tulsa Zoo Nature Exchange. What a blast to be in a zoo (I always knew it would happen eventually!) and I have without a doubt found a third career! I thought two was nice but 3? Some dogs never tire of new bones I guess! Pack up the kids and come see me there! Bye for now!

So great to hear of your new job, Robert. So great to find this web site and hear of everyone's accomplishments! I'm hoping to hear from class of '80 grads. Looks like lots of people are keeping in touch from '79.

Hi Robert,
I swear I think we have met, but I can't place you. Clearly you were friends with Gene and he was friends with my brother Bryan.....do you remember me at all? I can almost place you, but the brain is tired.....just curious.
Also, how cool to have had so many options in life! I will be finding (hopefully) another career and I find it a bit terrifying! You have to be a good guy if you take care of the animals! That is criteria one in my book. Take care.
