I was cruising the highways and bi-ways up until 1999 when they decided I needed to be promoted to Lieutenant. I got the bars and they sent me to Lawton, OK. The family and I resided in Duncan, OK from Late 99 up until June of this year. My wife decided the laid back country life was not her cup of tea and we both decided to make a move this summer. It's nice to be back home where all the 'kin folk are. Tulsa has grown and so has the traffic. Job security for me I guess! I am currently flying a desk and babysit 11 roadies, all pretty good guys however, they get it done and make me look good, no complaints!
Sounds like we need to get together with all the "boys" and spank the white ball across the cow pasture. Pat. |

That's not an ad for those crazy white folks, that's the signs which will be hanging from the bleachers if I get to pitch against you guys!
Did you guys ever get to play in the alumni games or did you play in 80 & 81 against the alumni, i.e. Marty Batese, my brother Paul, Pee Wee, Spook Leak, Webster, et al? I heard they spanked a few classes but I was never around to play. We should try to revive that with BTW's coach? I just wanna know if Pat can hit for power now that he's no longer a skinny kid and I know Mike is a lot bigger, so he should be able to take a few out. Marty Irwin has the most impressive physique, besides myself ----------------------------- No wonder you`re all mixed up. You got a white man`s 1st name, a Spanish man`s 2nd name and a black man`s 3rd name. -- Mickey Rivers to Reginald (Reggie) Martinez Jackson |

Bobby,
My sister lived in Okinawa for a couple of years. It is a beautiful place. I'd love to see your pictures soon. So, you're actually thinking of coming home for good, huh? Didn't you say that last Christmas....or, was that the Christmas before? Gosh, time goes by fast.....hard to keep track! Either way, hope to see you and your mom soon. Class of 1980 Susan Griesinger e-mail: SusanYoung@aol.com Posted: 6-17-99 Wow a BTW Homepage. With the Year 2000 comming up I thought we might have information on a class reunion. Oh Well. Since Graduation I attended TJC (didn't finish) and then joined the Navy. I married another sailor and we traveled a bit. I have been married for 13 wonderful years but unfortunately we have no children. We now live in Winston-Salem, NC. Since my husband now has Hydrocephalus we are advocates for the Disabled, hydrocephalic and those with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). I look forward to hearing from anyone from BTWHS, especially the classes of 1980-83. Deitrya Anderson e-mail: Detrad@aol.com Posted: 5-27-99 No message. Karen (Owens) White e-mail: karen.r.white@swt02.usace.army.mil Posted: 5-15-99 Hello Fellow Hornets!! It is great to find you all doing well in the world. I am proud to be a graduate of the MIGHTY CLASS OF 1980 and am looking forward to seeing all of you at the 20 Year Reunion in 2000. Currently I serve as the Treasurer for the Class and I want to let you know that we are working hard to raise funds for the reunion. The scheduled dates for the reunion are June 29 through July 2 of the year 2000. Please, Please, Please make plans to attend! Also, if you have not received any letters from the class we do not have a current address for you so please send me an email so that I can see that you are added to the mailing list. Everyone take care and I hope that the Lord allows me to see all of you in the year 2000!!!!! God Bless! Karen White Albert W. Sells Jr. e-mail: ASellsjr@aol.com Posted: 4-17-99 I L-O-V-E-H-O-R-N-E-T-S I love you, love you Hornets, Hornets Hello all you BTW graduates. This is Albert W. Sells Jr. writing to you from McAlester, Ok. bka "Little Dixie." I too am a graduate of the mighty class of 1980 and am proud to be a Hornet Alumn. After graduation I attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. I walked on and made the football team and played for two and a half years before injury ended my career. After football ended, I worked, go married, had 4 beautiful children and moved back to Ok. to finish up my degree. I graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Ok. with a degree in Mass Communi- cations with a emphasis in Public Relations. I currently reside in McAlester, Ok. with my beautiful wife Ki, our four children Nyla Gail 16, Albert III 9, Matthew Christian 2, and last but not least Tyler Lynn 10 months. God has truly blessed our home with his Saving Grace. I am currently working on starting our own business, "Mail Box Ect." It will be our second business that we haved owned. We enjoy the small town atmosphere of McAlester where we really don't have to worry about the children or our home. The family value still counts for something here in McAlester. We try to get to Tulsa at least once a month to visit my parents who still reside in the same location that they have for the last 32 years. Also I am a minister for the Gosphel of Jesus Christ. That is truly the high point of my life, serving my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I hope to hear from more of my classmates from the mighty class of 1980. May God Bless each and everyone of you in the name of Jesus. Bye for now Albert W. Sells Jr. James Kavin Ross e-mail: ross@osu-tulsa.okstate.edu Posted: 1-28-99 Hello fellow HORNETS near and far. I was honored to be a graduate from the greatest high school in the world, BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL. After graduation, i received a scholarship to attended Texas Southern University. I would stay in Houston for 15 years. I loved it there. Around 1993 I was seriously considering to move back to Tulsa. What convinced me to come back, was to see Dr. John Hope Franklin on the PBS Series "Going Back to T-Town." The video was full of other BTW Alumni, and produced by a BTW Alumni, Carmen Fields. With my eyes flooded with tears and homesick for home and BBQ baloney, I made my plans to come home. To come home was the best choice I had in years. It was a blessing to be home, no place like it. What was great to be home and to be active in the community. In February my classmate, who is my wife Tasha Matthews, will celebrate our marriage of one year. WOWW! We have two children Shante 10, and James Matthew , 4 months old. Daddyhood is strange but fun. I was able to met the man who inspired me to come home, and to have pride in our history. Dr. Franklin and I keep in touch from time to time. What a pleasure it was to proposed rename a street after him. Now we have JOHN HOPE FRANKLIN BLVD. that start on Denver go east for seven blocks and attached to Greenwood AVE. I had GAP Band's Charlie Wilson BTW '71 to the University Center at Tulsa to talk with kids who were attending a youth program on campus. Charlie gave a great speech to the kids about drug music, and life in general. If anyone knows Charlie, please pat him on the back. My latest project is to place a historical marker here on the campus. Most of you young folk don't know that the original Booker T. was located right here in the Greenwood District. We need all Hornets to get invovled in this project. You will be a part of history. Also there is a Booker T. Washington National Alumni Association. Coach Ed LAcy is the President. He is doing a good job! Last year we celebrated the school's 85th Anniversary. What was really great was a Hi-Jinks re-union. It was so much fun that we talking about doing it again. There is a lot going on here. If you're conteplating about coming home. COME ON! Give me a call about more information about the Alumni plans. Call me (918)594-8356. SEE YA! BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Nelia Bryant e-mail: bryantn@ohca.state.ok.us Posted: 11-18-98 Hello, all my classmates from the greatest class that ever pass through the walls of BTW. I currently live in Oklahoma City where I work for the Oklahoma HealthCare Authority as a Policy Coordinator. I love working for the state of Oklahoma and helping people get the medical care they need. I graduated from OSU in the summer of 1984 and I am currently working on my MBA at UCO. I am looking forward to our 20 year reunion in 2000. Please keep me posted on the events going on with my almamater. May God bless and keep each and every one of you. Michael D. Pegues e-mail: Peguesm@hayboo.com Posted: 1996 I graduated from Booker T. in 1980. Since graduation, I attended and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in mechanical engineering. I worked for four years as a stress analyst for LTV Aerospace and Defense Company in Dallas, Texas. I was on a four person teamt that designed the inlet ducts for the B-2 bomber. I left LTV to attend lawschool and now I practice patent law for the law firm of Haynes and Boone, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas. I soecialize in litigation. I think this home page is great! Hey Mike or should I say Mike's, it's good to see a few names from the old days. Some of us just keep coming back to Tulsa. I feel like ole Leon Russell, and come back to Tulsa, 1 more time... Kevin Berry was playing b-ball down in the Dallas area, we keep in touch once a week. Hopeing to be invited to the 25th, since the 15th was a blast, or at least what I can remember at this point. Any old class mates out there, like to hunt ??? That seems to be what I do most these days and it's great !!! Would be interested in a get together with some of the old hornets.
