I was never first before...
Hello gang, In Austin, TX, doing the Software Engineering thing. Been married since '89, got two boys, 6 and almost 11. I was on the baseball team from '79 til '82. Coach O was my fav, but Claude Moutray was a contender when he wasn't pissed off at me. I had Moutray for 4 classes in 3 years. That is just too much face time :-) Only couple of classmates I have heard from recently are Charles Duncan and Jackie Zuniga. Then again, until recently, I never paid enough attention to friendships to have them last longer than was convienent. Sorry for being a butthead sometimes. If you remember me, drop me a line. Later, Richard Hasting |

Hi gang! This website is great! I'm down in South America for now, being a mom and a scuba diver (not sure in which order at times! :-) ) but I bring my kids to Tulsa every summer and have attended the last two reunions...great bunch of people!
My favorite teacher was Peggy Hill who's now at TU. Coach O came in a very close second! Make sure Paul Webb has your contact information for the next reunion...they are alot of fun and well planned out. Scuba Diving moms are always cool in my book!
Where are you living down in South America? How did you end up there? I just never pictured you in fins :-) |

Hey Richard! We're on the east coast of Venezuela near the Trinidad/Tobago side. Our house is one block (within view) of the Caribbean! Really cool! I dive about once a month with adults and just as often with my kids (3). We also have a boat and spend most weekends out on the water. Great life for now.
Remember Mary Fusco? She's still in Tulsa and we're still good friends. Her brother, John, is in Kansas City. Coach O is teaching at Holland Hall (I think). Think you will ever make it to a reunion?? So you got three little darlings eh? It sounds like you are enjoying being there.
Yes, I remember Mary Fusco. In fact, I have her Yahoo IM in my "friends list" but I have never actually seen her active (with that account anyway), so I've never had the chance to IM her. I may had traded an email with her a couple of years ago, I can't remember. She has two brothers, Joe and John, who were both in Boy Scouts with me. John is the older one I think. I hope that they are all finding success in life. I don't scuba dive, but I do "boat". We have maybe 20 lakes within 90 minutes of our home, and the closest (Lake Travis) is only about 2 miles. We haven't gotten out very much this summer. Had way too much busyness with the Kids and Church. I no longer have any ties in Tulsa. 2 years ago, my parents moved to a retirement community in Georgetown, TX (about 20 miles away) and then this year, my grand parents did the same. My brother Mark, who attended 80-82, is in Livermore CA and is has a handful of district managers reporting to him. He is doing quite well, but wants to leave California. He has two boys, 5 and 9 (I think) and he thinks the people and the culture out there are just whacked. I did attend the ten year reunion. I had a previous engagement for the twenty last year and I used that as the excuse not to make it. Charles Duncan is the only other person that I have had contact with since '92. He has "RETIRED" from the Air Force. (I'm too young!!!!) Richard |

Si mi castillano es malo, lo siento. Soy gringo. Perhaps I had better stick to my native language - Okie. If you don't remember me, then you are just like the other 336 members of our graduating class. I was such an unknown that sometimes I didn't even recognize my own name. Actually I hid out at Vo-Tech during our Junior and Senior years. Thus, I didn't socialize very much with other members of the Class of '82. Richard mentioned Charlie Duncan retiring from the Air Force. Charlie is the only person I know of who did exactly what he said he would do after high school graduation. In '82 some of us thought that Charlie was going into the Air Force in order to forget about his break-up with his girlfriend Sara Soeten (also a member of our class). Sara became someone else's Mrs. on Valentine's Day of '85. The only other class member whose fate I know is Pam Moan, who I have known since 1970. She married her boyfriend Brian Rains circa 1985. The last time that I was in touch with her was in 1998. At the time she worked as a part-time secretary for First Presbyterian Church of Owasso. Here is a news flash for you. Early in 2003 the Tulsa School Board fired Mr. Davis as Booker T's band director. Some female students finally had the courage to report his sexual misconduct. I have a question for Tina. Does she remember what outfit that she wore for her Senior Class foto? The '82 yearbook shows her wearing a dress with red, white and blue stripes (with white shoes, of course). Bigger news flash: Our old school is no more. That's right. The halls the we walked in have been turned into rubble. A new Booker T. has been built just north of the old building right where many of us used to park for school and for football games. Now it is time for me to fade back into obscurity. Don't worry about your Spanish, mine should be much better after living here for three years, but it's not! I'll be honest, don't remember your face. It's times like these I wish I had a copy of my yearbook. I was friends with Pam, too, and glad to hear she's doing well. Terry Nesmith is a bigwig (Terry would have to smile at that!) for the Tennessee Department of Education. Mary Fusco is in Tulsa (Owasso) working for Worldcom. Brian Vogt is an engineer in Memphis, TN. Reid Barcus is in Claremore. Terry Harper is still in Tulsa. So is Raymond Hancock, Angela Sells, Whitney Downie, Janet VanWormer, Sydney St. Clair, and many other of our classmates. Paul Webb was in charge of our past reunions and did a great job, but he couldn't find several people...send your contact info to him and anyone else's you many know!
As for my senior picture, of course I remember what I wore. I loved that dress. And if I remember correctly most people wore boring, drab colors...not me! "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid" Kierkegaard |

"And if I remember correctly most people wore boring, drab colors...not me."
Tina, you never did fit in with the Gothic crowd. The art crowd - yes. Gothic - no. By the way, the forum titled "Booker T Photo Gallery" has a thread that features a scanned copy of our senior yearbook. Of course, it is doubtful that anyone today looks like they did in their Senior fotos. The last time that I saw Pam Moan, she had the kind of hair cut you would expect Jamie Lee Curtis to have. Regarding my Spanish, I think that I might have incentive to improve my Spanish skills. I have a Peruvian wife, a Colombian daughter, a Venezuelan sister-in-law and a Mexican Chihuahua. Now if you are wondering how I can have a Colombian daughter when my wife is Peruvian Well, Time to stop posting. I've gotta go. According to Dan Richards, he has sent e-mail about this website to several members of the Class of 1982. Some people have read the e-mail but have yet to check in here. Others have not read their mail.
Here are some classmates whom Dan has tried to contact. I'm curious about their fates even if they were not my friends. Sarah Underwood - Saxophone player. I was mean to her once in a science class. I'd like to apologize to her. Lynn Roach - Lynn completed high school a semester early and then entered Oklahoma State University. When I entered OSU in Fall '82, Lynn welcomed me. I was scared being in a place where I knew nobody. Lynn helped to reduce my fear. Dina Parry - Dina and I were classmates in Mrs. Bowden's poetry class (Fall'81). I had been a Christian for less than a year. Dina helped me to grow in my faith. Samette Mack - Samette and I were classmate all the way through elementary school and she lived in my neighborhood. After high school Samette began working for my mother's company, and my mother gave her rides to work. Samette's married name is "King". Laura Ledbetter- I remember when Laura first arrived at BTW. I loved her out-of-state accent. During our sophomore year she was in my French class. Laura acted in plays, and I watched her perform in a play performed at the Tulsa PAC. Paula Bowman - I was Paula's classmate before she and I entered BTW. I really liked her, but I was too shy to tell her. I think that she and I rode the same bus to BTW. In 1988 I encountered a sister of Paula's while working in Nevada. Her sister actually recognized me. Now here are other classmate's whom I'd like to learn about: #1 on my list is Stephanie Johnson. Stephanie and I were classmates all the way through elementary school. Way back then Stephanie was obviously intelligent, athletic, outwardly attractive and talented. Shephanie and I shared an enjoyment for playing stringed instruments. She learned to play the violin as I learned to play the cello. What I remember best about Stephanie is that she was good to me and good for me. She inspired me to pursue excellence. I had genuine affection for Stephanie. I wanted a close friendship with her, but our society at the time would have frowned on a white boy being with a black girl. Robert Byers - Except for the first semester of our freshman year, Robert & I were classmates from 1st Grade all the way through 12th grade. When Robert transferred to BTW after the 8th grade, he encouraged me to transfer to BTW, too. Robert knew my flaws, and yet he was a friend to me. Stephanie Calvin - She didn't know me really , but she was cute and sweet. Lisa Chennault - Outwardly she was beautiful and she had a great personality - a person worth knowing. Gary Farris- I don't remember anything that he and I ever talked about, but we talked often. - a good man. Joseph Gentry- he struck me as being an intelligent and polite person. Dallas Gray - He was always good for a laugh. John Hall- I can't remember what he and I did together, but he was sociable with me. Jerry Hays- My buddy from Jr. High. I knew his younger brother and sister. Pam Hightower- She and I were in the same church youth group. Ivy Hughes- A classmate of mine in elementary school and an absolutely beautiful woman. Mikel Janitz- a classmate from Jr. High. Ruth Kirkpatrick- I remember giving her and her younger sister rides home. Had I'd been wise, I would have know that she was the kind of person I should have dated. Pam Moan (Married name: Rains) - My classmate since 1st Grade. She and her husband were members of my church youth group. I lost contact with her in '98. I genuinely love Pam as if she were my sister. Easter & Ester Nathan - The sweethearts of our class and the smartest. Sara Soeten- A member of my church youth group whom I treated as my little sister. I visited with her mother when I was at OSU. Paula Williamson - For some reason she stick out in my recollections, but I don't know why. If only there were a way to locate these classmates. Here's ones I've heard about or seen lately...
Lynn Roach: Attended our reunion last year and teaches school in Phoenix or somewhere near. Hadn't changed much. Mikel Janitz: My brother ran into him within the last couple of years in Tulsa. I think he still lives in the area. Pam Moan: Still lives in the area. Laura Ledbetter: Still a good friend of Mary Fusco's who's still my best friend. She would know how to get in touch. Mary's in Owasso. Gary Farris: Military guy or has been and hasn't been able to make the reunions. I think he's in Asia?? The Twins: I believe they were at the last reunion and someone had to tell me who they were. Paula Bowman: Also some I really liked. Great girl. I've heard she's still in the Tulsa area, but don't know where. Paul Webb is our "reunion guy" who may know where to reach these people. We had quite a good group at the 20th, much more than the 15th! Good luck finding them. Tina "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid" Kierkegaard |

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out who Laura Ledbetter is. I have searched my year books and have come up empty, although the name sounds familiar.
Then it hit me. I also have contact with, Kathy Soard (King), Angela Carnahan, Mary Watts (Hamilton), Rick Mattioni, Lisa Weber (Zeta Mattioni) and of course Tina Barrett (Francisco). There were several others that I talked to at our 20th Reunion. I could probably go on a while...but I won't! Take care all! Mary |

Hi Mary, welcome to the discourse.
Say hey to your Dad for me. I remember him as a really delightful man. Also say Hi to John for me next time you get a chance. Tell him to check out this site. later, Richard |

Hi and I was just enjoying the posts so I thought I'd pipe in.
Well I can't resist, Does anyone know how Rose is doing? On Pam and myself, we both have two kids. This makes us sound really old, but my oldest daughter has started her first year at OSU and Pam's oldest daughter is heading there next year (I hope). Our younger brother Greg just had his first, so he is a ways behind. Please say a prayer for Coach O. I believe that he passed away this past month, but I wasn't able to attend the funeral. He was an amazing man and certainly had a very positive impact on most of our lives. I'm in Colleyville, Texas, and believe it or not some guy with the exact name and the same age lives about 5 miles from me in Southlake, Texas. Sometimes we get each others phone calls. Go figure. Anyway, greetings and I hope the this note finds everyone in good health and spirit. Mike |

If that's who you are talking about, she's still in Tulsa. She was married to my brother and they have a son. I still see her, mainly because of my nephew, every summer.

Thanks Tina,
I knew that she had married and split with your brother. I think the last time that I saw her was at the water park at the fairgrounds. I went to Church with Rose and Becky at the Turley United Methodist Church, and just wanted to say hi. Hope you having fun in South America. How'd you swing that deal? |
||||
|
|
|
and tell Pam hi! Becky's in Philadelphia now. Yes, Darren and Rose were married and now he's married to a great gal who went to Webster and grew up on the block behind us. Funny how that worked out.
My husband works for Conoco and he's down here selling oil. It's a sweet deal for the most part if you overlook the 3rd world aspect of the political unrest and some of the cultural aspects of vanity. (I've never seen so many women, rich and poor, with boob jobs...you can spot them a mile away! Take care! Thanks for all the info,
I'll tell Pam hi, and I'll also tell her about this site. I think it's awesome. I'm going to see if I can't Wayne Pense and Mike Jones to chime in. I haven't seen Scott Rooks in awhile, but I'd like to talk to him also. If Robert Byers reads this, I recently told the story our trek into a prefab behind Monroe, and our great escape after we almost got caught by the TPD. I suppose we can declassify some of those stories now. I going to crack open a yearbook one of these days, and see what other good ones I can dredge out of my memory. If you have any good ones on Pam, I'd like to hear em Mike |

Oh,
And Hi Mary! Mike |
||||
|
|
|
is a great idea! I also saw where you posted about a reunion for cross-grades...I would love that! Most of my friends were in the 80-82 classes.
Funny you should mention Mike Jones...loved that man! He was one of my best friends and I lost track of him after high school like I did so many people. But anyway, we were living in Ponca City, had the TV on while I was getting ready to go somewhere, and heard a voice I knew so well. So I ran to the TV and there was Mike being interviewed on the news about rabies. My middle daughter wants to be a vet and I keep thinking I need to take her to see Mike...maybe he could put her to work.
