Hey, remember the back door to BTW by the music rooms. I found a pic on the web of a few faces from the late 70's. Maybe some of you will recognize these cool guys!

L to R: Bill Ungerman, Pat Savage, Todd Wolfson [in front w/ Robert Plant hair] , Jon Glazer [in back w/ tongue wagging ] Kevin McCraw, and Mark Gheen.

Don't miss The Coolest Guys @ Booker T. Washington.

Wow..just looking at that photo brings me back.... way... way.... back! I remember that exact spot! More than a few pics were taken on those hallowed stairs, but none cooler than this one. Wink You have all the cool music dudes in one spot! 2yay

So Ungerman snuck himself into that pic, huh? I have one of him and Jeanette Nutting around here somewhere. I will scan and post it as soon as I locate it. Next time you see or talk to Bill, tell him Monica from Booker T says "Happy Birthday!'. He might remember what it means, after all these years!

Thank you so much for posting that one, Dan. Oh, and the link to the photo at the end... I think they deserve their own sitcom. That was the REAL '70's Show', I'm telling you! Smile

Okay, I goofed.. it wasn't 'Jeanette Nutting', it was Jenet Wofford! foreheadslap 25 years kinda messes with your ability to get the names straight! Sorry Jenet! Wink

Anyways, I haven't found the pic of Jenet and Bill yet, but I did run across this snapshot of Bill behind the school. Very expressive, I think! Big Grin (Anyone recognize their car in the parking lot in the background?)

Monica

P.S. Thanks for Bill's email, Dan!

Great picture Monica!!!

I think that is Cheryl Austin in the background coming up the sidewalk. Sad to see our beloved parking lot gone, the new BTW sits on that very sight. Alas..... applaud

Yep, I see Dan! No mistaking that smile. Big Grin

School musicals were so much fun. The only one I participated in was 'Once Upon a Mattress' in '76, my freshman year. I can't believe I actually auditioned for the lead. I didn't get the role, but looking back, I am glad. I don't think I had any idea what I was getting into! I was a 'support' player instead, which was great.. all the fun without all the pressure! Wink

Thanks for posting the pic, Jeri. Keep'em comin'!

And yes, Cat, that was Cheryl Austin in the background of the pic of Bill. I was waiting to see if someone would recognize her! Smile

Hey Monica,

Yep, I thought that was Cheryl, couldn't mistake the hair, she always was so put together for school. I just rolled out of bed, and put jeans, shoes, and t-shirt on.
I found pictures from 1979s prom. Maybe Jeri can help me post them.

I'd love to see photos from the '79 prom! Unfortunately, I missed that prom. Frown I changed schools at literally the last moment, a day or two before classes began, just so I could be with my high school sweetheart more. Man... after investing 3 years at BTW, that decision cost me the right to say "I graduated from Booker T.!" foreheadslap But in my heart, BTW is and will always be MY high school, and I am proud to call myself a Hornet! Smile

I absolutely love this site Dan Richards. Those photos are unreal...I remember those faces and places like it was yesterday, and haven't thought about it all specifically in years. You know what I mean, like how many times did we sit on those steps after school smoking cigarettes, trying to see down into the parking lot who might be smoking pot in their car...jesus I love it.

Just glancing at it without a yearbook to put names with faces, The blue Camaro with white stripes was Mark Rutledge's, The light blue GTO was Peewee's, the the rust brown challenger belonged to Ronnie Holloway or Jesse Byers (failing memory), the brown charger on the front row was a guy named Greg..., got to find that yearbook. This is too cool!

Dan,
I don't know how well you remember me but I had one of the Camaro's in the back parking lot (faded blue-green). I used get a car load of people and go to Dairy Queen for lunch. Have you heard anything from Melinda Veatch?

Hi Bill, of course I remember you. We had Ecology classes together.

Cat Bray recently had lunch with Melinda, who is a minister living in Dallas. Melinda was a good buddy of mine at BTW. I'll email Cat and see if we can dig up some info.

Here's an old pic of my first car in high school. It was a '68 Camaro 327. I can't remember whether or not I had it when I was still at Booker T, but I do remember driving it to work when I worked at Big Al's when I was 16, so I probably did. ( My bumper sticker read "Go to health at Big Al's" Big Grin) A lot of Camaro's in that Booker T. parking lot!

Remember when Kiss removed their make-up? Now look at that pic of the boys at the top. Coincidence? I think not! Thanks for posting this Dan! Consider yourself hugged by the littlest (or youngest anyway) Ungerman! applaud
