BTW Spring Alumni Baseball Game

April 22 (Saturday)
Start time: 10:30 ish
BTW Baseball Diamond (directly east of the Field House, park in Field House parking lot)
No admission charge (please see note below regarding BBQ)

Game 1
Alumni vs. Alumni (Orange vs. Black)
Teams likely to be divided between grads of odd-numbered years vs. grads of even-numbered years.

Game 2
Select Alumni (the ones still left standing) vs. Varsity

BBQ (most likely hamburgers and hot dogs) will be available to those wishing to help us raise funds for the baseball program at $10 per adult (children are free w/ paying adult) which will include soft drinks. The game is FREE to watch, the above $10 is for those wanting to eat something while at the same time assist with the needs of the program by eating! All BTW alums are more than welcome to attend, we had a very good turnout in October at the first alumni baseball game in DECADES!, as well as family members and anyone so interested to watch a bunch of older (and younger) guys make complete donkeysCobraof themselves.

For those out of the loop, the baseball program at Booker T. is on the rise! Last year the team was one horrendous umpire decision from likely advancing to the finals to face Kelley for the state championship, a team Booker T had defeated only a few weeks prior. Regardless Booker T was easily one of the top 4 teams in 5A last season and moves up to 6A and will be competitive. There are Booker T grads currently playing juco and university baseball and one senior this year, Jeremy Webster, has already signed with Connors JC, which is a Top-5 juco baseball power (rated #1 last season almost the whole year) in the whole U.S., and K.D. Radford (in my opinion) has a good chance to get drafted. So they will be competitive this season as well.

Anyone wanting more info about the alumni game, a schedule of the varsity or JV teams, kindly contact Bobby Dozier at bobby(at)dozier(dot)org. Kindly replace the (at) and (dot) with appropriate symbols!

Kindly stay updated via this thread, as details COULD change. In case of inclement weather the game will either be rescheduled or cancelled.

Hey guys. Sorry that I couldn't make the ball game this past Saturday. My board called a meeting to hire a new Athletic Director and I had to attend that. I would have rather been at the game. Quite a few folks showed up at the meeting to protest the fact that the person they wanted hired didn't get the job. This is stuff that I am supposed to read about in the paper - not stuff that I want to live through. Anyway, the board voted 7-0 for my recommendation. Alls well that ends well, I guess.

I am looking forward to the next ball game or get-together.
