BTW Graduates:

My name is Jim Ferrell and I am a doctoral candidate at Oklahoma State University. I am currently working on my dissertation and I am looking for interviews. As you know, BTW was created as a magnet school in 1973. My dissertation is an oral history of the first African-American graduates who had attended at least three years in the magnet school program. The interviews will be recorded and donated to the Oklahoma State Historical Society after the dissertation is finished.

The purpose for magnet schools was, in part, for school districts to achieve school desegregation. I would like to see what effect attending BTW after it became a magnet school had on the life opportunities of those who graduated.

I have had some good responses and am ready to begin scheduling interviews with those that I have spoken to up to this point. I am in need of 3 to 5 more interviews. Please feel free to contact me if you would be willing to sit for an interview and discuss your experiences at BTW and your life since graduation. The initial interview will last approximately 60-90 minutes with a possible follow-up interview on the phone or through email. I will be happy to answer any questions you have.
