Hey Everyone!! I am back in town and having a great time. And, if that isn't enough, I am teaching of all things.
I had a great stroll down memory lane with Cat Bray (Sandschaper these days) at the Olive Garden the other night. "Oh Auntie Em, there's no place like home!!" T Toshav Storrs (formerly Tony Greene) 1200 Dryden Road #3 Ithaca, NY 14850 |

This website is pretty dead of late, where is everyone?
----------------------------- No wonder you`re all mixed up. You got a white man`s 1st name, a Spanish man`s 2nd name and a black man`s 3rd name. ![]() -- Mickey Rivers to Reginald (Reggie) Martinez Jackson |

Some of us are still around and just reading. By the way Bobby, I visited with Leak the other day. He was taking his Dad to dinner when I called in response to his email to me. He sounds like he's doing well.
One last item, perhaps you could pray for my family. My wife is pregnant and due in March with a son (Carson). We know from the ultrasound that little Carson has spinabifida. The lesion is low on the spine (upper sacrum - lower lumbar) so the prognosis is fair that he may have leg movement. He continues to kick so that's a good sign. He has a club foot so we will have to deal with that after birth. As will all babies with spinabifida he has some hydrocephalus but that has stabilized and the doctor does not think it will impinge dramatically on neurologic development. We thought about fetal surgery for a while but didn't qualify for the study being done in the U.S. at this time due to the lower location of the lesion. Anyway, it dawned on me when I was reading this forum that the prayers of many are better than the prayers of few. Also, some folks may possess much more knowledge about spinabifida than I. If so feel free to let me know. We would appreciate your prayers. Chuck Luke - Class of '79 |

I check in almost every day, enjoy reading the other posts. I haven't had much response from classmates so I just kind of gave up posting but it's nice to listen in anyway.
Chuck, I'll sure add you to our prayer list in Sunday school, I'll bring it up for prayer in choir practice too. You're right, can't hurt to have as many praying as possible. Laura Snyder is in the choir w/me at church, I'll mention it to her - she's class of '79 too I think, she can bring it to her sunday school class. |

Thanks for the prayers. We visit the doctor quite a bit now. At the last visit he indicated that he will take the baby on March 16. We'll keep you posted on the details.

My mother just sent me this web address (she is a 1958 grad) and it is good to see names I had not seen in years. I currently work with the state Health Department as a Programs Officer for the Office of Minority Health. Formerly did research for the Oklahoma Legislature. Not married, no kids, went to college in Tennessee. By the way, for those who don't know me by my real name, my nickname is Duck. Hope to hear from some classmates and the see them at the reunion. I willl pass this website info forward. Tony Greene, wanted to say hello, saw you on national television several years ago profiling you and your partner.

First of all, thank you to everyone for your continued prayers regarding Carson and Carmen. Both mother and baby are doing well and are now home.
Carson Aaron Luke was born at 10:21 p.m. on March 15th. He weighed in at 7 lbs. .06 ounces and he was 18 inches long (roughly one cubit for you OT scholars). He had spinabifida (which we knew) but the lesion was relatively small and did not protrude too much from his back. The doctor repaired the spinabifida lesion and implanted a shunt to drain the water surrounding his brain. The shunt will stay in until he is at least three and a determination will be made at that time whether he needs one for life. Right now, we will continue to monitor neurologic functions but that should be o.k. with time. Other issues that he faces are urologic and orthopedic in nature. We have to catheterize every six hours (it’s much easier than it sounds) and he will take certain medications for the rest of his life. He has a club foot and some issues with his lower limbs but the orthopedic surgeon predicts that he will be able to walk, albeit with braces and/or other assistance. His hips are dislocated and that problem will have to be addressed fairly soon but that seems to be no large medical issue. He is a beautiful baby with a full head of hair (unlike his father). He has a very sweet disposition (again unlike his Dad but like his Mom) and seems to be very alert. We feel very blessed to have him with us. His 3 1/2 year old brother Cayden is beside himself over having a little brother. His pictures may be found at https://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/babylogin.asp?URLID=7G2C6B6J3M and the password is luke. If the link doesn’t work, just shorten it and follow the prompts to the Web Nursery. C Luke |

Chuck, Carson is a real cutie!

Chuck - I agree - Carson is a doll! My cousin's baby was born with spinabifida about a year ago - and she's doing just fine and we feel very blessed. I"m sure everything will be fine for your family too.

Hello 79'ers! I have just found this site and enjoy seeing all the familiar names. Yes, I did get out an old yearbook to aid the trip down memory lane! I live in Arlington, VA, am married with 2 daughters, 10 & 13. I "retired" when my first daughter was born -- now I work at a preschool and have just joined a small modern dance company -- fun!

Elizabeth,
Good to see you posting. I just want you to know I always thought of you as one of the nicest people on earth. Even from the Carver days your demeanor was always pleasent. It's good to hear life has been good to good people. Blessings to you and your family. Shawn Atkinson |

Hey everybody! Thanks to Elizabeth Ames Fogarty for telling me about this site. It's great to see so many names I remember fondly from BTW -- Dan Richards, Cat Bray, Kathy Fox, Steve McCann, Chuck Luke, Shawn Atkinson. I've enjoyed reading all the posts and learning what classmates are doing now.
Dan -- Kudos to you for getting and keeping this site up. Last time I was in Tulsa I visited BTW. My wife and I walked the halls and I felt great about being back there. The new building was under construction, but the old school had the same feel as when we were there. I was really proud to be a BTW grad! On the advice of the bookstore lady, we went to the Albertsons at Pine and Peoria and found that they have tons of BTW shirts and stuff. Now my whole family (I have two kids) has BTW shirts, which we proudly wear around Omaha. Now that I know about it, I plan to visit the site often. Keep the '79 posts coming! Best, Jim Nolan BTW '79 |

Great to see all you guys here!
Jim - my old vocab study partner - do still have that Harvey Korman tape deck?! |

Dan ... My Man!
Sadly, the years have claimed that famous tape deck and my 8-track collection. I'm holding on to lots of vinyl, though!! It's great to link up with you. I have good memories of speeding off with you to coney islander for some lunchtime coneeze. You've done a great thing with this site -- I'm totally hooked! Jim Nolan BTW '79 |

Hey Elizabeth!
This is your 9th grade gym class 'tennis tournament' partner, Monica Abbott. I remember us being wholly surprised that we won. (Probably because I am not the least bit athletic. My 'sport' was Mountaineering class. Btw, I lived in Leesburg, VA for a couple of years a few years ago (back in Tulsa now). Before I moved up there, I visited Alexandria every month or so, and my then-fiance and I drove through Arlington alot. Virginia is a beautiful state, and I still miss it sometimes. Good seeing you here! Monica Class of '79 |

Dan and Nancy,
Sorry it took so long for me to respond. Thanks for the comments about Carson. I saw Max's website and he too is a cute kid! I can tell that Mom and Dad are very proud of him - as well you should be. |

Hi Cat,
A photo of me from the 79 prom? I've gotta admit it ... that scares me a little! Jim |
