How could any forget the good ole choir days and the greatest music teacher on Earth Ms. Bayouth. There is no way that anyone could forget her favorite Christmas Song "Baby" and the way people like me could get under her skin and cause her to want to pull her hair out. Yet and still she brought out something in me that I will never forget and that is self-confidence. Im a stronger person because of her quartet tests and her making me sing solo's when no one believed in me but her. thanks Janice.

You should have been there in 1977, Jan Bayouth's first year there! She was fresh out of school and I think BTW was her first teaching job. She looked (and probably was within a few years) just barely older than her students. I remember being in the chorale room with Robert Standley and some other guys from the theater dept. and when we all saw her walk into the room for the first time, all our tongues were dragging on the floor! She had this unbelievable body and was so petite, all that testosterone was boiling over! Then when we found out that she was a teacher it was tough to treat her like a teacher. I don't see how she didn't kill us.
My best memory was during a "Holiday" assembly, (remember, thanks to Kurt Lenhart, the stink about calling it a "Christmas" assembly?) and the chorus was to sing the "Hallelujah Chorus". During rehearsals I jokingly added ONE LAST "Hallelujah" at the end of those many "hallelujas" that are written, all by myself. Right before the assembly, during our last run-through, Bayouth says to me, "And Robert Bowe, don't you dare do that during the assembly!!" Well, do I have to tell you that she must have "jinxed" me because, in front of the whole school, I was unable to stop myself from singing that one last "Hallelujah"! I am so sorry Janice! I really wasn't trying to do it! She was a lot of fun! She had a youthful spirit and always made us feel like an equal rather than the usual teacher/student thing. She was always such a good sport when we would give her crap about a new boyfriend or how tiny she was. (at 6'4" I towered over her!) She was pretty cool!

Mike Mims, former basketball coach and my crazy missingtooth (I mean that in a good way, some of us have never laughed so hard) homeroom teacher, is now working over at Sand Springs w/ Ms. Bayouth.

I havent seen Mims since he left Norman. Frown Glad to hear he is back in school. What a great individual! Even though he made me make a pineapple upside down for my Aide grade. He had a comfy couch I slept on every 2-4-6 day....

The vocal music department went downhill after she left in 2000. It's never been the same. I remember when she made me do a solo. I was so nervous, but the rest of the members were really encouraging.

Ms. Bayouth was the greatest, ever! I remember so many wonderful teachers at BTW, but Ms. Bayouth stands out as the one who had the greatest impact on me. I will never forget my memories of Select Choir. I remember all the fun we had with our choreography numbers, the wide range of music, and of course singing "Baby," and the school song upon return from our performances. Thank you Ms. Bayouth for helping to create such wonderful memories and for all of your encouragement. -Class of '88.
