Anyone have Frank Teasley for a Geometry teacher? I've seen a lot of him recently on TV, he is a cancer survivor and a spokesperson for the Cancer Research Centers for America. I saw the ad and couldn't believe that he has the same flat-top hair cut as he did back in '76.

I saw that commercial and about hit the floor! He looked the same as he did when I had him in '77. I had a great friendship with Frank's daughter, La Nell.
Hope he is still measuring the hypotenuse!! And Hi La Nell, where ever you are!

I saw that commercial also but I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I wondered aloud to my wife if it was the same person. I guess it was. Wow! I dated La Nell for a brief period of time (maybe two or three dates) and have always wondered what happened to her.

I figured I'd better add (better late than never) that the teacher in question here is Frank Whatley. He taught math in the prefabs behind the English wing. Yes, his daughter LaNell attended BTW in the late 70's and I believe she would have graduated with the class of 1979. Last I heard was that she was a nurse. Also, last news (albeit a long time ago, maybe 8 years!) was that Frank was indeed a survivor of cancer, and yes, that was him in the Cancer Centers of America commercial. And, I would still love to hear from LaNell!

Yes, his name is Frank Whatley and is his still my dad. He is a 14 year survivor of lung CA. He had his left lung removed, chemo, and radiation. Several years later he suffered a massive heart attack and the cardio. refused to operate. After gathered a panel of expects they decided there was no other choice than letting he die and dad wanted to die fighting. He came through with flying colors. A true inspiration for many CA patients all over the country. When they air his commercials they get thousands of calls and he will speak to anyone who needs extra encouragement. His commercial is the most successful than the rest and he has made 4 to date. This weekend he is building a screened porch @ their retirement home he built 5 years ago. His last B-day he was 72. I am so proud of him and proud to be his daughter and know what good 'stock' I come from. He would love to hear from any of his students (several were present during both of his surgeries)
By the Way, he is still my favorite teacher

I went to this post because I didn't know a Mr. Teasley. I'm glad I did. LaNell-Aundrea Walton here to say hello. Wonder story about your Dad. I had him in the ninth grade, man I did the best work and applied myself in his class. Did you take that class with me? Anyway great to see you on the board. Keep watch for news on our upcoming reunion 2009-30 years and the class of 79 is still mighty and aged as fine as wine.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll make sure to pass them on to him when I talk with him next. Dad loved teaching and still does whenever he gets the chance with the grandkids, grand and great neices and nephews. I am looking forward to the next reunion and pray it is during one of the "thin cycles". It is nice to hear from classmates, I have gone to other HS sites and found friends from all over.
